Following the "Cheerful Hearts" and deepening social bonds established in September, October brought a vibrant mix of cultural celebration and accelerated foundational learning. Children embraced the festive season with genuine joy, dressing up for Vijayadashami and Diwali, participating in Vidyarambham to connect with early literacy, and learning the value of empathy during World Smile Day.
Academically, our learning continued its strong progress with structured Montessori sensorial activities like the Metal Insets and colour gradation during Yellow Day. This strengthened both Fine Motor Skills and advanced Sensory Perception. The October Parent Orientation welcomed new families, building strong Home-School Partnerships and reinforcing our commitment to high-quality, NEP 2020 compliant Early Childhood Education. Vijayadashami Celebrations
Vijayadashami, celebrated on October 2nd, was a truly festive and foundational moment, welcoming new students and celebrating progress with our existing children. Dressed in traditional attire, children were greeted at the entrance with a joyful welcome—complete with colourful rangoli and festive personnel, setting a beautiful tone of Cultural Awareness & Heritage. The Vidyarambham was a highlight, where all Playgroup children wrote their first letter on rice, creating a meaningful, hands-on connection to Early Literacy & Phonics. This sensory writing activity was immediately followed by a symbolic handprint activity using safe green paint, capturing their growth journey. Parents were delighted by the Joyful Journey wall display, showcasing the children's beautiful progress, reinforcing our commitment to strong foundation
October - Parent Orientation Session
The Parent Orientation focused on building a strong parent partnership for our newest families. We shared our unique vision: providing high-quality Montessori education at an accessible cost in the North Chennai area. The core discussion centered on why early childhood education is critical, highlighting that 90% of brain development occurs by age five. We offered practical guidance on handling separation anxiety, detailing our gentle settlement approach and the H.A.L.T. method. The discussion was highly interactive and engaging, promoted by our newly inaugurated digital display. Every parent left with a full learning kit—including books, uniforms, and digital app access to monitor progress—reinforcing our shared commitment to their child’s confident start.
Diwali Celebrations
The Festival of Lights brought bright joy and tradition to Rays Kids Preschool. Children arrived beautifully dressed in traditional ethnic wear, ready for the celebration. The Pre-KG and LKG children focused on creating a colourful Diya using edible clay, a delightful activity that significantly strengthened their Fine Motor Skills and hand muscles. They decorated their Diya with glitter and placed it within the floral rangoli using safe, non-fire LED lights. The Playgroup children engaged in an age-appropriate sky cracker art project, using cotton buds and glitter to mimic bursts of light, enhancing their visual-motor coordination (eyes and hands working together). The joyful day concluded with a memorable group photo, reinforcing Cultural Awareness & Heritage and Creative Arts & Expression.
World Smile Day
World Smile Day was a truly joyful lesson in emotional connect and happiness. Children proudly wore their smiley pin-ups, reinforcing the importance of positive Social & Emotional Wellness. The core activity involved the Montessori Metal Insets: Pre-KG and LKG children used the circle shape to draw the smiley outline, developing crucial pre-writing and Fine Motor Skills. Playgroup children focused on strengthening pencil grip by painting the yellow face with a brush. The most heartwarming moment was the display of Social & Emotional Wellness: a child was seen gently sharing the brush with a new peer, perfectly illustrating our value of share and care, a foundational component of Logical Thinking & Problem Solving and Cooperation & Teamwork.
Yellow Day Event
Yellow Day brought the brightest cheer to the month of October! Children shined in their beautiful yellow dresses and eagerly posed for photos, building social confidence and Expressive Language skills. Each child brought a yellow item from home, boosting colour recognition and descriptive language. The Pre-KG and LKG children engaged in Montessori sensorial learning using the colour tablets, mastering colour gradation (darkest to lightest shades of yellow). This hands-on activity builds foundations for Sensory Perception and Early Numeracy skills. For an immersive activity, Playgroup children created Pineapple Stamp Art, strengthening their Fine Motor Skills and Visual-Spatial Awareness through Creative Arts & Expression.
October - Birthday Celebration
We celebrated our little adorable princess, Tiya, who joined our Rays Kids Preschool family this October. This event was a wonderful boost to her Social-Emotional Security and established School Readiness, coming just after her settlement period. A birthday celebration in the classroom strongly reinforces the idea that school is a loving extension of home. Tiya shared simple gifts with her classmates as a token of gratitude and share and care, strengthening bonds between new and existing children. Receiving a gift from her teacher further deepened her trust in the classroom environment, making this day the most joyful and heart-warming celebration of belonging and Holistic Development.
